We at Stem and Leaf know how hard you work, so in honor of this International Labour Day, we've put together a show featuring all its members current musical projects, as well as special guests Jumpstart Racer and DJ Dave M (Brothers and Sisters).
About the show:
Stem and Leaf is an artist collective formed by a group from Austin, TX, born out of the ashes of pop rock group The Unbearables (2003 - 2009).
SXSW 2010 marked the debut of indie folksters Polar Optimist and southern death rockers The Silent Chase --- if you missed them, here is your chance to see the direction they'll be taking their new projects in 2010.
One Hundred Flowers will be sharing their unique blend of prog and indie rock, and Stephen's Island Wren will open with quiet chamber pop.
Special guests Jumpstart Racer will help us rock and party hard, way hard, with their melodic brand of psychedelic pop rock.
In addition to live music, we'll also have Dave Morgan of Brothers and Sisters DJ'ing the sounds of the 60's & 70's to keep the party going.
This event will also begin featuring new poster art by one of Stem and Leaf's lovely and talented resident artists, Charity Ridpath.
Skillshare Austin will be with Charity talking about their upcoming Annual Two Day Weekend Event on June 5-6, as well as hosting a crafts table that will include Make Your Own May Day Button!
In addition to the show, come and wish Stem and Leaf Founder Marshall Escamilla a VERY Happy 30th Birthday at midnight! We owe him a moment of thanks for all of the projects and fun he has led over the years.
It would give us much pleasure if you would reward yourself for being a hard working individual in honor of May Day's history. Have a drink (or five) with us, make your own May Day button with Skillshare Austin to commemorate the day, and enjoy the music brought to you by your all local Stem and Leaf musicians.
There are so many reasons to come and very little not to!

Our 3rd Annual weekend Skillshare is fast approaching (June 5th and 6th @ Space 12) and we are more ready this year than ever! To help us in all that we do to organize this lovely event, Stem and Leaf is throwing us a benefit show this weekend!! What sweethearts they are.
If our skillshares are free, someone has to pay for the materials and we don't want the workshop teachers to carry this. So, we do what we can to use repurposed refuse and get things donated but eventually someone's pocket gets rifled through for money that isn't already promised to a roof, a glass of water, or a tasty avocado.
This is why we have benefit parties and here is what you can expect from this year's benefit.
Skillshare Austin will have a few tables of quick skills and offer information about us and our upcoming event. We will also have workshop sign-up forms for any last minute workshop teachers. There is always room for one more!
The Stem and Leaf Collective will be there promoting creative expression through music, art and community involvement.
And the gems of the evening will be all of the bands that have donated the fruits their skill and passion made!
Darling New Neighbor, Elizabeth Jackson (solo set) - 2:30
Dark Water Hymnal - 3:00
Polar Optimist - 4:00
Searching for Signal - 5:00
Honey & Salt - 6:00
This is an all ages show. No chunky X on your hand that somehow makes its way to your cheek in the morning and no need to get a sitter!
If you are of that drinking age there are $2 lonestar pints and $3 for all other pints!
