Public speaking
I will give tips on public speaking with a socially conscious analysis and a fun interactive atmosphere. I will incorporate techniques for dealing with nervousness, breath control, voice projection, confidence and presence. No one will be required to participate beyond their comfort level. All welcome.

What do Doulas do?
Birth and postpartum doulas will share briefly about what doulas do to help families through the perinatal period- before, during and after birth. Birth doulas will demonstrate comfort strategies for late pregnancy and labor. Postpartum doulas will demonstrate newborn care techniques for new parents.

Sewing with a pattern
Learn to use a pattern to make clothes. There will be plenty of patterns and fabric to choose from. We will go through laying out the pattern, cutting the pieces and understanding directions. You will go home ready to sew it up.

Computer navigation
Want to learn more about computers? I know stuff about computers and will try to give you tips that will help you. From turning it on to editing sound and images to making things online.

Make (and use) some puppets. They are super fun.

Crafter extraordinaire Rockie will bring an exciting box of supplies and get the kids started in all kinds of awesome crafty projects.

Take control of your pregnancy
Learn how to do your own prenatal and basic healthy pregnancy facts. Understand what your doctor or midwife has been doing to you and why. Also an introduction to the world of midwifery.

Bike accessorizing
Your bike deserves to dress up too. You'll get started on a seat cover and a crocheted top tube cozy.

Digital TV Coat Hanger Antennas
Learn to make your own digital T.V. antenna from coat hangers, wood, wood screws, watcher and transformer.

Capoiera
A movement break between workshops. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, games, music, and dance.

Handknitting
Handknitting (also known as finger weaving) is a simple form of knitting that is quick to learn and requires nothing but a ball of yarn. Finn, age 5, learned how to handknit last year and is ready to pass his skills on to kids and adults alike. Finn and his adult assistant will get you started on a project to take home.

Screenprint
Learn the basic techniques of screen printing using pre-made screens.

Get ready to go on a bike trip!
You don't have to be a bike nerd to travel by bike. It's easy and fun for all skill levels. In this workshop, we'll talk about route planning, packing, and what to expect. Think about where you want to go, because we'll be planning out your very next ride!

Guerrilla gardening
Guerrilla gardening is about making neglected public land beautiful and productive. In the workshop, you'll learn the basics of guerrilla gardening, and how to select a site. Then we will make a guerrilla garden.

Chicken care and tractor building
You'll learn the basic of chicken care and then build a chicken tractor (movable chicken coop). The finished tractor will later be raffled off as a skillshare fundraiser.

Anarchist baby care
How can we bring our anarchist politics into the way we care for babies, and why would you want to? We'll discuss and practice some ways we can apply anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian principles to the way we feed, transport, care for, and interact with the little ones in our own families and others. This workshop is open all, from parents to potential parents, to folks who are just curious about kids.

make a collaborative zine about participating in the skillshare weekend.

Change your car's oil
Stop paying for oil changes! Learn how to do it yourself.

Baby wearing
Baby as accessory? No, we're just talking about all the ways you can carry a baby on your body rather than in a contraption separate from you. We'll cover the history of baby wearing, the benefits to both baby and caregiver, and everyone will make a carrier of their own.

Tree care
An arborist will teach you how to keep your trees growing and healthy!

Bike repair on the road
Don't get stuck! Learn how to put together an everyday tool kit and take care of basic repairs on a ride.

Kombucha
I will teach people how to brew kombucha in a safe way. It tastes better than the stuff you buy for $3.50 in the store. Plus it's ultra cheap to make and you can flavor it in a million fun ways. Participants will take home a jar of kombucha "mother" which they can use to start their own home brews.

Virginia's gonna make sure we don't get stiff and tired from too many sitting still workshops.

Liz teaches yoga for all ages and is especially awesome with kids! She'll lead a half hour class, and you can find more of her at http://www.loveyouryoga.com

Intro to Improv
We introduce the skills of improv comedy to children, teens and adults. Improv teaches confidence, improves concentration and listening skills and, most of all, is fun!

Video editing
Learn how to edit videos quickly. Workshop will go over how to load video into a computer, the basics of editing and how to upload or create a DVD. Emphasis on activist and independent journalism videos. Workshop will be taught using an Apple computer and Final Cut Pro software, but is applicable to non-Apple users.

Hand tool use and Maintenance
Learn about the various non-power tools you can use to build stuff and take care of your home, and how to repair, sharpen, and maintain them to keep them useful for generations.
